Free Litter Pickers for community groups

OxClean’s key priority is to help local communities to make a difference within their ‘patch’ and other public places they care about.   To this end, we want our Spring Clean 2010 participants to have litter pickers to hand for Spring Cleans – and whenever they want to clean up throughout the year.

This objective – and the problems we encountered in 2009 concerning supply and distribution of loaned litter pickers – led us to find ways and means of placing litter pickers permanently within the community.

Thanks to a wonderful grant from Grassroots Grants through The Oxfordshire Community Foundation, generous support from Oxford Civic Society and Carl Room, Franchisee of McDonald’s Restaurants in Oxford, plus very helpful sponsorship from The Helping Hand Company (UK's largest supplier of litter pickers) – we can make available 400 free Streetmaster litter pickers to community groups.

Priority will be given to previous Spring Clean participants who register for 2010.  Any remaining pickers will be offered to new registrants (first come, first served basis).

Discounted litter pickers and other equipment for ALL participants

Our supplier, The Helping Hand Company, will generously support Spring Clean 2010 by providing a discount voucher to every registering group.  This will enable you to purchase:

• disposable gloves, kids’ litter pickers, and other items at special prices
• Streetmaster litter pickers at the reduced rate of £11 plus VAT (RRP £15.50), amongst other models

If you need  more litter pickers:

• plan what you need to take good care of your “patch” and equip your team of Spring Cleaners on 5-6 March 2010
• think of some fun ways to raise the funds you need
• order directly from Helping Hand who will deliver to your address

We will email your discount voucher as soon as your register

During the Spring Clean Weekend itself, we will also have a small supply of litter pickers for loan to registrants (again on a first come, first served basis).

As before, we will be liaising with Oxford City Council to co-ordinate the supply of sacks and boxes, and the removal of all the collected litter, after the picks
